William Marion Beasley Geneology Information

Hi, I'm Jim Beasley, the son of James Roy Beasley. I thought I would try to establish a blog to share some of the geneological information about William Marion Beasley with those Beasleys who are descendants of William Marion Beasley.

The following is some of the geneological information that I have been able to discover since about 1975.

William Marion Beasley was born in Georgia some time between 1822 and 1825. He married his first wife, Matilda Rotch, on March 26, 1846, in Chambers, Co., Alabama. Matilda was the daughter of Samuel Rotch. Through the years they also lived in Barbour, Bullock and Pike counties in Alabama.

Their children were: James W. Beasley, born ca. 1846; John H. Beasley, born ca. 1847; Samuel Rotch Beasley, born August 15, 1849, and died July 30, 1905, in Troy, AL;
Mary E. Beasley
, born ca. 1854, and married Henry Griswold in Union Springs;
Eugenia A Beasley
, born ca. 1855; Nancy Narcissa Beasley born ca. 1858; and
William A. Beasley
, born ca. 1859.

William and Matilda divorced about 1872. At that time they owned about 7 acres of land about a mile out the Chunnenugie Road from Union Springs, AL.

William Marion Beasley married Mourning Beckwith on September 1, 1872, in Pike Co. AL. Mourning was born in April, 1840, in Mississippi, and died June 23, 1901. She was the daughter of Richard Beckwith who was born in North Carolina, and Nancy J. Beckwith, born in South Carolina.

Their children were: Henry Harrison Beasley, born Dec. 11, 1874 0r 75, and died in Augusta, GA on Oct. 21, 1958, Buried in Macon, GA; Willian Austin(Alston) Beasley,
born Mar. 15, 1876 or 77, and died on Dec. 1, 1955, buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Union Springs, AL Frances Leona Beasley, born Feb. 28, 1878, and died Jan. 14, 1960, buried in
Macon, GA. Minnie Lee Beasley, born about May 10, 1891, and died Oct. 30, 1957, buried in Augusta, GA.
Infant Beasley, (The 1900 CENSUS losts that 5 children were born to theis marriage and that only 4 children were still living.)

The preceeding list gives the names of the 12 children of William Marion Beasley. I have only been able to find the descendants of the following children: Samuel Rotch Beasley in Montgomery, Alabama and Florida; William Austin Beasley in Union Springs, Alabama,
St. Petersburg, Florida, Albany, Georgia, Michigan, Texas, California and Louisiana; Frances Leona Beasley Harden in Macon, Georgia and Florida; Minnie Lee Beasley Vasser Thomas in Augusta, Georgia.

I am still looking for information on the descendants of the other children:
James W. Beasley, John H. Beasley, Mary E. Beasley Griswold, Eugenia A Beasley,
Nancy Narcissa Beasley and William A. Beasley.

William A. Beasley was listed as 1 year old in the 1860 CENSUS but he was not listed in the 1870 CENSUS, so he may have died some time in between.

I would appreciate any help in finding information on these individuals. Email me at:
jbeasley@email.com.

I will try to give additional information as time permits in the future.
